My Journey

My career has always been about people. What began in a laboratory and manufacturing operations quickly evolved into a passion for developing talent and helping others navigate their professional journeys. Over the past 25 years, I've held senior HR leadership positions across diverse industries and cultures, working with organisations in both Ireland and the Middle East, including the South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital, Dairygold, Garrett Advancing Motion and Hilti.

Throughout my HR career, coaching and mentoring have been integral to my role. I've had the privilege of supporting professionals at every level, from graduates taking their first steps to executives leading through significant change. These experiences reinforced what I've always known: that bringing out the best in people is not just rewarding work, it's empowering work. In 2025, I established O'Doherty Consulting to focus entirely on this mission.

My Approach

I believe effective coaching starts with creating a safe, trusted environment where you feel genuinely heard. My approach is tailored to each individual, drawing on a mix of solution-focused, person-centred, cognitive behavioural, narrative, and psychodynamic coaching methodologies. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I work flexibly to meet you where you are and support you in reaching where you want to be.

My coaching philosophy is grounded in authenticity, active listening, and genuine empathy. I take a holistic view, recognising that we are one person both at work and at home, and that sustainable career success requires balance across all aspects of life. Whether you're exploring your values, navigating a career transition, building resilience, or developing your leadership capabilities, my role is to unlock your potential and facilitate your growth.

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Master's in Personal and Management Coaching from University College Cork (First Class Honours) and a BA (Hons) in HRM (First Class Honours) from MTU. I am a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and an Individual Member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council, adhering to the EMCC Code of Ethics in all my work.

My professional experience spans over 25 years in senior HR roles across multinational and multicultural environments, working in both unionised and non-unionised settings within public and private sectors. I've led teams through organisational change, managed large-scale recruitment and restructuring projects, championed diversity and inclusion initiatives, and navigated complex employee relations challenges. This breadth of experience means I understand the real pressures and complexities professionals face at every career stage.

I've worked across sectors including ICT, research and development, healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, shared services, and pharmaceuticals. I’m based in Cork (Ireland), working with corporate clients either remotely, or at their offices. Working remotely means I can I bring this extensive experience to support your career development and organisational needs without geographic boundaries.
