1. What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative partnership between you and your coach. It’s a creative and thought-provoking process designed to help you unlock your potential, set clear goals, and take confident action toward achieving them. Coaching isn’t about giving advice—it’s about helping you find your own best answers.
2. What does a career coach do?
A career coach helps you clarify your goals, explore options, and take practical steps toward achieving meaningful personal and professional growth. Coaching focuses on what matters most to you—whether that’s career direction, leadership development, or navigating change.
3. How are coaching sessions arranged?
Coaching sessions are usually held online via Zoom and scheduled at times that work for both you and your coach. You can book your preferred slot through my online calendar. Each session lasts about an hour. If you need to cancel or reschedule, both you and your coach agree to give at least 48 hours’ notice.
4. What is the coach’s role?
Your coach’s role is to guide and support you as you explore your goals, identify challenges, and create strategies for success.
5. What is the coaching style?
Coaching sessions are both supportive and challenging. Using a blend of approaches, including Person-Centred and Narrative Coaching. Your coach helps you reflect, gain new perspectives, and make meaningful changes that align with your values and goals.
6. What does the coach agree to?
Create a safe, trusting environment through active, non-judgemental listening and genuine support.
Follow the ethical standards set by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
Keep all client information confidential, except in cases involving unethical or illegal activity, or where there is a risk of harm.
Take occasional notes to support your progress and the coaching process.
7. What does the client agree to?
Be open and honest throughout the coaching process.
Communicate with your coach if something isn’t working as expected.
Understand that you can end the coaching relationship at any time.
Recognise that coaching may touch on different areas of your life—work, relationships, health, or personal growth.
Take responsibility for following through on the actions and goals you set during sessions.
8. What’s expected from me as the client?
Coaching works best when you’re fully engaged. It’s a collaborative process, not a directive one. You’ll get the most out of coaching by taking ownership of your goals, being proactive, and applying what you learn between sessions.
9. How is confidentiality handled?
Everything discussed in coaching sessions is confidential and follows the EMCC Code of Ethics. Your coach will never share your personal information or use your name as a reference without your consent. Confidentiality may only be broken if required by law or if there’s a risk of harm or illegal activity.
10. How long does coaching last?
That depends on your goals. Some people benefit from a few focused sessions, while others prefer ongoing coaching over several months—or even longer—to support continued growth and development.
11. What results can I expect from coaching?
You can expect greater clarity about your direction, improved confidence, stronger decision-making, and practical strategies to help you move forward. Coaching helps you build awareness, take action, and create lasting change in your career and life.
